INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

• 1st - Mix the putty/clay well until ready according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
• 2nd - Spread the putty/clay on a surface that needs to be textured. To ensure optimal results, make sure you have a smooth and even surface before impressing with the rollers. We recommend using a plain rolling pin for this.
• 3rd - Depending on the type of putty/clay, it is advisable to wet the roller to prevent sticking.
• 4th - Move the rolling pin slowly, applying equal pressure at all points for an even texture.
• 5th - Cut away any excess putty/clay with a sharp blade. It is recommended to do this after it has dried to prevent distortions in the putty/clay.

MATERIALS:

There are a ton of different kinds of putties and clays in the market, and all of them can be textured using the right technique.

Usually, polymer clay (Fimo or Sculpey type) is quite easy to work with these rolling pins, as they allow for easy correction of mistakes before baking. If the intention is to make a textured base, we recommend using an MDF base, as you can texture the polymer clay directly on an MDF base and then place everything in the oven, including the base. The cooking time for these clays is approximately 15 minutes at 150ºC. MDF wood might leave a slight smell, similar to that of toasted bread, but don't worry, it won't burn!

In the case of epoxy putties, there are different techniques that will achieve similar results. The good thing is, you don't need to bake them, so they can be applied directly onto plastic bases.

For Green Stuff putty, which is particularly sticky, it is required to slightly moisten the putty or the roller with some water before texturing. You can also reduce its stickiness by applying talcum powder or by using Sculptor Vaseline.

Other epoxy putties such as Milliput putty, for example, are also suitable, but we recommend not wetting them too much as this will hinder your work. Furthermore, if the mixture is too sticky, it is better to continue kneading until the stickiness disappears.

For these types of epoxy putties, it is very important to clean the rollers well after use.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS:

After working with the rollers, use a scratch brush (LINK) and plenty of water to remove any residue from the rollers, if necessary.
