Mariliths, sometimes referred to as 'serpent demons', are cruel beings who revel in the chaos and carnage of the battlefield, but are at the same time brilliant tacticians. The mariliths commonly encountered appear in response to the dark rituals or incantations of corrupt demonologists and power-hungry priests. Few summoners possess the mental dexterity and steadfastness to summon a marilith; fewer still succeed in binding these creatures. From the waist up, they usually resemble a muscular woman with six arms; from the waist down, they are twenty-foot-long, crushing, snake-like coils. Clad in elaborate armor and armed with wicked swords, a marilith is more than a worthy opponent for any mortal legion.
Two recovering regulars in the Green Griffin were caught discussing their plans to return to the Caves of Doom. Their group, once consisting of eight, is now only two, and they are eager to recruit a couple of skilled heroes to help them destroy the demon Vandorendra, the marilith who slaughtered their former members.
