Fisherman's house, a creation by Wouter.
Wouter, a client I've had a few hobby sessions with, is currently creating a diorama. Because I find his work impressive and creative, I wanted to share it with you.
It all starts with the base: a base of slightly thicker cardboard, topped with foam pieces that have been treated to resemble old wood. To hold it in place, Wouter used glue and needles. After the glue has dried, the needles are removed.
The next parts are the side panels and the front. These are also made of foam and finished with a small wire brush to give them a wooden plank look.
Tip: To glue the various foam pieces together, use wood glue or PVA glue. Definitely not super glue. Your work will melt right away!
To gain better access to the planks, the underside was painted first, both the inside and the outside.
Then the planks were added to the roof. These were also pinned to follow the lines of the roof.
After the whole thing has dried, paint is applied to it as well. A creative touch is to place a piece of cloth over the roof where the hole was originally made.
In photo 8 you can clearly see that, by using bits of moss, the fisherman's house is getting an even older look.
