STEAMPUNK TOP HAT BASE

Steampunk Sokkel handgemaakt

The Steampunk tophat plinth is made from the following materials:

Fimo clay

Aluminum Foil

Boat fittings

Epo Putty
Copper escutcheon pins

For the base, I used a cap to achieve a good round shape.
I filled this cap with aluminum foil and pressed it firmly to create a sturdy whole.

On top, there is space to place a 4 cm round base.

With Fimo, I first made a rolled-out slab and rolled it onto the aluminum foil. This created a tube.
Immediately, I used a rolled-out shape to create the bottom of the hat.

Then the whole thing went into the oven to harden.

Tip for oven use
- First, preheat the oven. (10 minutes)
- Then bake the Fimo, in my case at 100 degrees for 30 minutes.

Note that the Fimo clay packaging indicates something different, the choice is yours!

After it cooled down, I started working with the sander. The tube wasn't as perfectly round as I had wanted.
But with regular adjustments, I made good progress.

After removing dust, I applied a Fimo edge to the rim of the bottom and put it back in the oven.

I used the Epo Putty to make the glasses and also to secure the boat fittings.
The advantage of Epo Putty is that it is self-hardening.
