MAKING A 120MM SLATE BASE OVAL

Het maken van een 120mm Leisteen Base ovaal

120mm Slate Base oval

In addition to the various slate bases, I have been asked for a 120mm oval slate base.
The base starts with a GW 120x92mm oval base
I build these with slate (these are available in 100 gram bags under the "raw materials" section https://sceneryenzo.nl/product/leisteen/
For attaching it to the base I use super glue.

Tip
Please note: try to avoid getting the superglue on the top of the slate, as this can cause you to lose some of the slate's structure.

The intervening space was filled with very fine slate grit.
First wood glue in the holes and cracks, then the grit.
This was repeated several times.
I chose a higher version because this base is being put into production.

Fine sand added here and there to create moss for the final result.

The sand I use for this is also available through the site.

The mold is made and the first casting is poured.
As you can see, there's still some slate grit here and there. This is usually gone by the second or third cast.
